It’s a clear, spring morning as you readjust in the camp chair you brought up to the Parkway to watch the sunrise. The rising monolith of Looking Glass Rock gleams in the sun as day breaks, the faint sound of birds caught on the crisp wind as the woods awake. While the morning light burns away the lingering shadows of night in the surrounding valleys, you take in the swaths of spring green that are blanketing the once bare forests. Winter felt long, but warmer months are now ahead. You watch the sky until the color reflected off of the domed stone of Looking Glass spills across the expanse of Pisgah. Finally you stand, scrunch up the chair and walk towards your parked car, eager to drive to your next adventures.
